UNC provides good healthcare, the issues we have always had is their Billing department. They just cant seem to get it right. Its like the 3 Stooges are running it. After numerous phone calls from myself, and my insurance company telling them they are using the wrong billing code and just need to resubmit something, they still cant get it right. This hasn't happened on just one occasion, but almost every occasion. You call and they tell you it is flagged for review, it will be 30 days. You call back in 30 days and nothing new. Last year, I also received bills from them for stuff over 2 years old...Wow.... I'm at the point of driving the 30 minutes in to meet with them in person to try to get them to actually bill something correct. But I'm just fooling myself, they still cant get it right. Hopefully my new year will consist of getting last years billing correct, and then never going back to UNC. It always seems to revolve around Billing things as Sick visits vs. preventative care that my insurance company fully covers. I've managed to transfer all my families stuff over the last 2 years to Duke and have NEVER seen the issues with their departments as I have with UNC. 2 year old Bills, inaccurate bills, I just wonder what a full audit would reveal. Hopefully someone at UNC will read this review as the last few times I have called and told my Billing issue was "under review", I asked to speak to a manager and they said none were available and one would call me back. Not holding my breath on it as its been 2 months for the last issue and no calls back on the several times I have called.
9hrs total and they sent me home without figuring the cause and said take Tylenol for the pain and come back if it's worse
The disinterested nurses and entitled residents at the UNC hospital killed my father. I walked into his room after his surgery and the oxygen mask was completely off his face. He died from a lack of oxygen and a hospital staff that was too lazy to bother to check on him.
I came in after telling them I drove 12 hours straight here from vacation with pain like appendicitis. It has be 2 and half hours of excruciating pain in the waiting and they have yet to do anything. Horrible staff. Horrible service.
I love this hospital. Everyone was so very nice to me and my family. The room was so nice and big and the food was delicious. The doctors were always there around the clock to check on me. Made me feel like I was family. Your in good hands here.
after 5 years in the uNC system, still desperately searching for a Dr. that will dive deeper into my chronic illness rather than pass me off to someone else in the network. I've been passed back and forth, forgotten after what they "suspected" was negative, and feel totally forgotten. Still struggling after all this time. Although each uncounter was typically polite and professional, the days of having a dr. Generally devoted to diagnosing and treating you, no matter how long it takes, apparently, are a thing of the past.
4hours and this pathetic nurse wouldn't even bring me a wheelchair.
