As a senior now, I have had my share of visits to Campus Health. While the visits usually cover what is needed, today I was discouraged from receiving care that is covered by insurance due to a lack of training on the receptionists' end. I called to schedule an appt for a rabies vaccination for a job, and was put on hold so that the receptionist could check to see if I needed to visit with a nurse before I could receive the immunization. When she returned she told me that my insurance, offered by the school through Blue Cross, would not cover the vaccination as it would only be covered for international travel. When I asked the price, I was not given one. So, I called the insurance customer service and was directed to my benefits page that shows me how preventative medicines are indeed covered if I receive them on campus, regardless of the reason! Then, I called Campus Health back to now schedule the appointment in full confidence. After talking with the same receptionist from the first call, I tried telling her about my experience since she had been told incorrectly, and said that my case wasn't the norm... soon I learned that trying to tell her about students' rights when it comes to insurance would be to no avail, so I spoke with the account services. They confirmed the insurance company's account. So, it is unfortunate that other students may be discouraged from receiving treatments that they pay for because there are multiple people on the front-end who are poorly trained in what they can and can't schedule for students who have university-provided insurance.

So easy to book an appointment (especially over the phone). Great service typically, sometimes can take a little while if very busy. The physicians and nurses are so nice and helpful. Always know what they are doing and easy to get medicine/treatment!

Its easier to go if you book an appointment over the phone, but when you do the staff is always very friendly and thoughtful about your privacy. I have gone for a variety of reasons as well, even before I went abroad and needed vaccinations and medications for my destination.

It is such a nice break from the urgent care centers to have a space focused on students - they have coloring pages on the walls, free condoms, friendly staff who know all about college students. Plus it's right on campus and there's no charge for visits to providers. Anything they do have to charge for - like labs or x-rays - are cheaper than you'll find elsewhere. I feel lucky to be at UNC where student fees support a full service clinic like Campus Health. Everyone I've encountered there bends over backwards to help make sure you get your needs met.

Called early in the morning and got an appointment on the same day! Physicians in different departments I visited are kind and helpful. I was able to get my medications quickly and efficiently as well!
