I had visited Carolina Advanced Health in 2016 for my annual physical and PA Kim Munneke was very nice and easy to work with. This year, I went there despite Kim Munneke's departure from the practice, thus giving them the benefit of the doubt. The actual visit went well with Dr. O’Meara. But I was surprised when I received a bill of $35 a few weeks later. Upon calling and questioning the billing Dept. about it, I was told that I had discussed other issues which do not fall under the definition of a "Regular Checkup".
The best health care providers in the area.
Quick and painless primary care. Really liked dealing with Meg and felt like she was very attentive to what I was saying and the questions I had. Not somewhere I want to visit frequently, but when I need to I will go back.
I have been going here since it opened. the staff is awesome and beyond friendly. I am appreciative of all the hard work each person puts in to create an awesome medical experience for me!
A separate call to the receptionist was met with insistence that I signed the forms which state that “Anything else discussed would be billed separately”. Dr. O’Meara was the one who asked me if everything else was OK. I had discussed the same points in 2016 with Kim Munneke and was not "nickeled and dimed" for it. The amount is an easy amount to bear, but the lack of principle, not so much. Fortunately, its not an issue big enough for me to lose my sleep over (pun intended), but it is something prospective patients should be aware of. I would recommend only answering the doctor's questions in absolute terms and always checking with the doctor if a question will fall under "un-covered issues", lest that question is also deemed an "uncovered issue".
As it turns out, towards the end of the exam, the doctor came back with the usual "Any more questions?", to which I responded with a concern about not being able to fall asleep at night easily. The advice I received was "reading a book and doing some exercise. She told me what her routine was before sleeping. This is what was considered a non-regular issue not covered by yearly check-up and a 35$ worth advice. I wasn't aware of this caveat and wasn't told about it either.
Meg Beal is incredible!!!
Had a good experience here with Kim Munneke but ended up with Katie Myzenski after Kim left the practice. Katie is horrible. She continuously told me she could not help me and deferred to what my specialists said, then would not approve the treatment plan they decided upon. I am now bedridden because she yanked my treatment away and my specialists are "mystified and distressed" about her decision. She would not let me talk to or see her supervising physician. She does not listen to her patients. She comes in with her ideas and opinions already set in stone and nothing you say will influence her. She doesn't even bother to ask what your symptoms are or how your health is doing. By far the worst doctor I have had.
